Butterfly Gardens

Our Butterfly Gardens were designated in 2013 as Monarch Waystation #7547.  Monarch Waystations provide milkweeds, nectar plants and shelter for monarchs throughout their annual cycle of reproduction and migration. Check out www.MonarchWatch.org for more information on Butterfly conservation.

  • MILKWEED-(Asclepia varieties) Tuberosa (butterfly weed), Incarnata (swamp), Syriaca (common), Hirtella (tall Green) Speciosa (showy), Asperula (antelope horns), Veridis (green antelope horns) Sullivantii (prairie) and Verticillata (whorled). These are 9 varieties that grow well here in the midwest. Curassavica (tropical) is an annual around here but we sell it because it is still a colorful beautiful flower & the butterflies love it.
  • NECTAR PLANTS-Coneflower (Butterfly Kisses, Hot Papaya, Virgin, Purple, White, Granada Gold, Cheyenne Spirit), Lantana, Rudbeccia, Catmint.
  • BUTTERFLY TO GO GARDENS-Comes with 1 host plant and 2 nectar plants to attract different varieties of Butterflies. Monarchs, Black Swallowtails, Painted Ladies, Buckeyes.
